Moving business dreams from inception to fulfilment.

Simpleship:
A time-phased commercial strategy to move your business dream from inception to fulfilment

On the one hand business is simple. You have a good idea, sell whatever it is you offer for more than it costs you, and make a profit. Then, one day in the future, when it’s been a huge success, you sell it for a huge amount of money and sail off over the horizon with your pockets full of cash. All you need is a time-phased strategic journey to move your business dream from inception to fulfilment.

Why Simpleship will help you see your business with more clarity and lucidity

Of course fulfilment occurs at many levels. Success in it’s own right might not necessarily be an exit – it can be as simple as resolving a change management problem, solving an HR issue or delivering ESG outcomes. Fulfilment can come through many and varied results.

On the other hand business seldom works that way. As you grow a business it can become complicated. As markets and economies change, and as competitors rear their heads, it can also become complex*.

The problem facing business leaders is that the more complicated a business is, the more ‘moving parts’ there are, and the more complex the environment. That means the more chance there is of something going wrong. That’s to be expected, that’s why business leaders are business leaders – to give the direction to foresee and steer clear of problems before they occur and fix problems when they happen.

Who should embrace the Simpleship model

It sounds easy. But in my experience far too many businesses, both big and small, lose their way and become stuck in the doldrums of inertia. Most of the time when I talk to them, I discover they have failed to plan, and lost track of the myriad of minutiae that makes a business survive and thrive.

You would be amazed how many business leaders I have worked with who have no clear strategy. If new to the business they have often inherited no clear strategy, or a failing one. If they (and the shareholders) are content to bumble along, then fine. But they’ve lost sight of the BIG WIN – the big exit when they can cash in their chips and head for the hills and a life of luxury. They have forgotten to keep the journey simple.

SIMPLESHIP is a remedy for that. A book, a plan, a network, a philosophy and a strategic process that ensures business leaders can keep an eye on the prize and prepare for the successful exit.
